In this weeks practical lesson we discussed the aspects of creating Miss Havisham for Television purposes. Unlike theatrical make-up, this makeup can't be a thick base as we now work in HD, meaning you will see every little detail of the skin. Therefore we will have to perfect flawless bases.
To create the flawless base you will need to prepare the skin as before taking into consideration any allergies or sensitivities the client may have with their skin. Cleanse, tone and moisturise paying attention to dry areas.
- Use a penny sized amount of foundation. You don't need to use massive amounts of foundation as the product will build up on your foundation brush. Foundation also has a dense pigment therefore it doesn't need to be put on thick.
- Don't forget to apply product to the ears.
- As Miss Havisham didn't see daylight or bathe, I needed to think about what her skin would be like now. I decided I wanted to go for a greyer base. The shade of the skin would be tones of white, grey or yellow.
- To create the haunted look I applied a darker concealer under the eyes. Get your client to look up and work from the outside of the eye into the inner eye. Immediately set with powder when happy with the effect.
- To create a haunted look on the lids, work from the inner eye to the outer eye and then set with powder.
- I also lightened the eyebrows by blending the product into the hairs.
- To make the look more haunted I would need to work on the lips. I also want to work on the base colour to create a better representation of how I think Miss Havisham would look.
